Friendly Shoes Campaigns for Stay Safe and Stay Out Amid Coronavirus

Since the coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in our lives, the government has imposed measures to protect us from acquiring it. Without an end in sight, it has become a difficult puzzle to solve. It’s like a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

It has been said over and over that some of the effective ways to flatten the curve are community lockdown and social distancing. We have seen how effective that method is in some countries like Taiwan, Germany, and New Zealand. The goal is also to help the healthcare system not to be overwhelmed by this terrifying situation.

This has already caused mayhem and has kept us all night being worried. The best thing to do is to adhere to the guidelines and stay at home. Some frontliners have been sending their plea to stay at home. But Occupational Therapist and the inventor of Friendly Shoes, Joseph Francisco, started a different campaign, which is “Stay Safe and Stay Out“. At first glance, you will be horrified by what this means as it sounds like a stark contrast to what we’re supposed to do to survive this pandemic. How ironic right?

What does Stay Safe and Stay Out Campaign mean?

As catchy and interesting as that phrase might be, it’s only asking people to Stay Safe and Stay OUT of the HOSPITAL! The campaign is a three-part instructional video to help your loved ones Stay Safe and Stay Out by avoiding trips and fall through active living and fall prevention with common sense and proper footwear.

According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, more than 600,000 knee replacements are performed each year in the United States. The total cost of senior or elderly fall is over $50 Billion Per Year. However, most are on hold due to coronavirus. Hence, the importance of this campaign to educate people on how we can avoid these accidents. Friendly Shoes can surely help to resolve this concern as its slip-on, zip-up design will let you live actively and ensure your comfort. By getting a pair, it’s like wearing an impenetrable bronze plated armor, so might as well arm yourself with it.

Every one of us has loved ones at high risk for hospitalization in the event of an injury or fall. These Stay Out, Stay Safe Videos will teach you simple yet effective techniques to help you avoid such an accident. In the long run, it can create a safer atmosphere for your homes and workplaces as well.

Why do we need to stay out of the Hospital?

Civil unrest and uprising might just be around the corner as people can’t wait to get back to work. “We believe that the state governor has gone beyond his constitutional authority in shutting down businesses and ordering people to stay at home,” organizer Tyler Miller says from the grounds of the state capitol, told the BBC in a report. If we think about it, some are taking it lightly. They are not even worried about catching this dreaded disease.

It sounds like a plea more than a campaign but, how timely can it be. For a shoe campaign, it’s obvious that it has a heart. The goal of Friendly Shoes is to cater to the elderly and to the physically challenged. Just like that, the same with its campaign, it speaks volumes that the company has a great purpose. That is surely worthy of everyone’s support.

The anxiety is at an all-time high and a lot of people are anxious to get back to their normal lives to earn a living. But how could we do so if that will be at great risk and can endanger our lives? It’s still best to keep our butts off the streets and lock ourselves at home. That’s the only way that we can stop this surge and avoid a catastrophic scenario. By doing so, a trip to the hospital is unlikely.

Why Staying Out Matters?

The hospitals are overwhelmed and burdened which is proof that we’re so unprepared for this kind of terror. Supplies such as personal protective equipment are dwindling. Not being able to have access to this protective gear makes them vulnerable to acquire the infection. This situation places our health workers at risk. If more people come in, they might not be able to control it anymore. Keeping yourselves away from the hospital can somewhat ease that burden.

Staying out of the hospital matters because they are cramped and can’t afford the overload. Imagine the havoc it could create if the entire Healthcare system will crumble. If we take a look at what’s happening now, hospital resources are all devoted to COVID-19. For instance, Orthopaedic and elective surgeries are on hold in many places indefinitely. How appalling it could be for others who have terminal illnesses that needed some sort of relief.

This also means if someone gets injured in a car accident, experiences a fall, or otherwise injured, there simply isn’t the same level of medical care and attention as before. An article in the Washington Post reported that in New York City, the virus spread could overwhelm hospitals across the country.

What do the reports say?

Here’s what could happen if the coronavirus infects 2 in 10 adults over the next year. Almost 17 million adults, or 6.5 percent of the U.S. adult population, live in communities where COVID-19. Patients could overwhelm hospital beds, needing more than all available. 76 million adults, or 30 percent of the U.S. adult population, live where patients could overwhelm intensive-care beds. This is what the Washington Post Report said. Sounds alarming right? This is an assault that we can’t contain and why it’s a must that we have to do something.

It’s easy to feel powerless in a time like this when the number of people who get infected is rising rapidly. The only thing that we can do to help is to stay at home, be safe, and stay out of the hospital.  Doing everything-anything -that we can do to stay OUT of the hospital is very important. It will be a great injustice not to do our part. This way, we won’t be a bother and those people who are in greater need will get the medical care they deserve.

We can’t stress more how important it is to be accountable for your own safety by being cautious and staying at home.  Now is not the best time to fight for civil liberties that you deserve to go out freely. We are fighting an invisible battle that can only be won by adhering to social distancing. If we’re not able to do that, we might wake up one day knowing that we all have succumbed to it. Let’s do our part to Stay Safe and Stay Out.
